Bishop Rowe’s Convention Address

On October 27, Bishop Sean Rowe addressed the joint conventions of the Dioceses of Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. The previous day, he was elected bishop provisional of the Diocese of Western New York in a vote that ratified a partnership between the two dioceses.

In his address, Rowe said, “We have made history in the Episcopal Church. We were part of something that has not been done before. But make no mistake about it, God has called us to this place and to these times to address the challenges that we face. These adaptive challenges–these challenges that we face that don’t have easy answers, that don’t have quick solutions where there is no fix right away except the transformational power of God that works in our midst. These challenges that baffle us, that sometimes have us feeling like we don’t know what we’re doing. And that’s basically because we don’t. God does.”
